ATLANTA, GA. - For the second-straight year, Sarah Gallagher of Canton has been named the recipient of the Tommy Barnes Award!

Established in 1998 and named for one of Georgia's most legendary amateur golfers, the Tommy Barnes Award recognizes the GSGA's overall Player of the Year. It is the highest honor given to an amateur player in Georgia. Gallagher is the first competitor to win the award in back-to-back years since Bob Royak of Alpharetta (2018-2019).

Much like 2023, Gallagher captured multiple victories on the state level and performed well nationally. Gallagher won the Georgia Senior Women's Match Play Championship in her first year of eligibility and followed it up with her second-straight Georgia Senior Women's Championship just under a month later. Gallagher posted a T30 finish at the Georgia Women's Amateur Championship and a T9 finish at the Georgia Women's Mid-Amateur Championship.

On the national scene, Gallagher put together a strong showing in her title defense at the U.S. Senior Women's Amateur Championship advancing the quarterfinals and moving her record to 9-1 in match play at the championship in her two years of eligibility.

At the U.S. Senior Women's Open, Gallagher finished T31 and was the low amateur from the United States in her second playing at the championship. Gallagher also participated in the U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship.

The Tommy Barnes Award is voted on annually by the GSGA's Championship Committee. For previous winners, CLICK HERE.
