On March 14, 2026, Louis Brown was officially inducted into the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026! Brown was joined by Frank Culpepper, Hugh Royer III and Dan Van Horn in this year's class.
Born in Newnan, Ga., Brown distinguished himself at every level of the game from junior golf all the way to professional golf. Brown became a four-year letterman and team captain at the University of Georgia and helped the Bulldogs to back-to-back SEC Championships and earned All-SEC and All-America honors.
Brown’s early amateur career included a win at the 1985 Georgia Amateur before turning professional, which resulted in wins around the world including in Australia and Canada. Brown also captured the 1997 Georgia Open and 1998 Atlanta Open in the Peach State. Brown regained his amateur status after almost 20 years as a professional and played sparingly in GSGA events, but won the 2008 Georgia Four-Ball Championship and 2020 Georgia Senior Championship.
His crowning achievement came in 2024 when he captured the U.S. Senior Amateur Championship at The Honors Course in Tennessee, becoming the fifth Georgian to claim the championship. Off the course, Brown founded The Evergreen Society and has devoted himself to mentoring young people and teaching the game.
