It was an incredible year on the course in 2025 and for seven players it culminated with a GSGA Player of the Year honor.
Kathryn DeLoach of Athens captured her first GSGA Junior Girls' Player of the Year behind one win and other top finishes:
- Georgia PGA Junior Girls' Championship Winner
- Georgia Girls' Championship Runner-up
- T9 at Georgia Women's Amateur
- Qualified for U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball
We caught up with Kathryn to get her thoughts on her 2025 campaign and learn more about her on and off the course!
What did earning your GSGA Player of the Year award mean to you?
DELOACH: "Earning my first GSGA Player of the Year honor was super special to me. After putting in so many hours of hard work, it was rewarding to have consistently solid tournament results and see that hard work paying off. While there were definitely some disappointments in 2025, receiving this honor has helped me remember and recognize all that I accomplished this year."
What was your favorite golf memory from 2025? And why?
D: "My favorite golf memory from 2025 was getting to go play the U.S. Women’s Four-Ball with one of my best friends (Betsy Sullivan). While it wasn’t necessarily the performance we hoped for, it was an incredible experience with the best partner."
What are your early goals for 2026 you hope to accomplish?
D: "In 2026, I am hoping to finish my junior golf career strong, while also soaking up every moment of the end of junior golf. I am also excited as I prepare for my next chapter of collegiate golf. [at Georgia Southern]."
How many holes-in-one do you have: "1."
Lowest round you’ve shot in a competition and in what event: "66 in second round of this year's Junior PGA Championships."
Favorite food/meal: "Steak."
Favorite movie: "Top Gun: Maverick."
Favorite golf course you’ve ever played: " Royal Portrush Golf Club."
Course you want to play one day: "Augusta National."
Hobbies outside of golf: "Baking and working out."
Favorite musician/band: "Brandon Lake."
Favorite sports team: "UGA football."
