It was an incredible year on the course in 2025 and for seven players it culminated with a GSGA Player of the Year honor.
Morgan Ellison of Peachtree City captured her first GSGA Women's Player of the Year behind two wins and other top finishes:
- Georgia Women's Open Champion
- Georgia Women's Four-Ball Champion
- Runner-up at Georgia Women's Mid-Amateur
- Semifinalist at Georgia Women's Match Play
We caught up with Morgan to get her thoughts on her 2025 campaign and learn more about her on and off the course!
What did earning your GSGA Player of the Year honor mean to you?
ELLISON: "Earning my first GSGA Player of the Year honor means so much to me because the level of competition in Georgia is truly elite. Competing against such talented players is an honor in itself, which makes this recognition even more special. When I graduated college in May and chose to continue playing, I was simply excited to see how things would go and the summer exceeded all my expectations. It’s incredibly rewarding to see all the hard work I’ve put in truly pay off."
What was your favorite golf memory from 2025? And why?
E: "My favorite golf memory from 2025 was playing and winning the Women’s Four-Ball with my partner, Erin. Erin and I were a great team—we had each other’s backs, brought out the best in each other and enjoyed every moment together. Those two days were so much fun competing against Kate and Rebecca, who are good friends of ours, and the strong competition pushed us to play some great golf."
What are your early goals for 2026 you hope to accomplish?
E: "My early goals for 2026 are to continue building momentum from this year into events at the start of the season. Two key areas I’m focused on are improving scoring consistency and sharpening my wedge play to create more scoring opportunities. I’m also aiming to qualify for match play with my partner, Katie, at the U.S. Four-Ball in May."
How many holes-in-one do you have: "2 but hopefully more to come. First was at Chateau Elan No. 12 from 120 yards in 2017. The second was Braelinn Golf Club No. 14 from 120 yards in 2021."
Lowest round you’ve shot in a competition and in what event: "64 in the 2019 GSGA Junior Tour Spring Finale."
Favorite food/meal: "Toughest question of all-time, any kind of pasta or tacos are my all-time favorites."
Favorite movie: "The Holiday."
Favorite golf course you’ve ever played: "East Lake Golf Club. Playing with my dad and friends was such a fun and memorable day."
Course you want to play one day: "Augusta National!!"
Hobbies outside of golf: "Baking and working out."

Favorite sports team: "Atlanta Braves."
