Scholarship Programs

The GSGA Foundation is the charitable affiliate of the GSGA and assists the golf industry in Georgia by providing educational opportunities through two scholarship programs.

This program has awarded more than $4.5 million in scholarships to deserving scholars in both programs. For the 2023-24 school year, the program will have 72 scholars receiving $336,000 in scholarships.

Current Scholars

There are 65 golf course employees, or their dependents, and seven future superintendents, who are starting or returning to college with scholarships, courtesy of the GSGA Foundation.

Yates Scholarship

Yates Scholarship Program

The Yates Scholarship Program began with three scholars for the 1988-89 school year under the name of “Kids in Golf.” The name of the scholarship program was changed with the approval of the Yates Family in 1990. This scholarship provides educational opportunities for employees, or their dependents, at GSGA Member Clubs.

Moncrief Scholarship Program

The James B. “Monty” Moncrief Scholarships are awarded to students of turfgrass management or agronomy at the University of Georgia, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and students who work and live in Georgia, but attend an accredited school outside of the state. Students are interviewed by a panel that includes representatives from the GSGA Foundation and Georgia Golf Course Superintendents Association.
