The Georgia Women’s Amateur Championship began in 1930 as a match play competition, which included a stroke play champion from 1952-70. It has been strictly a stroke play championship since 1971.

Entries are open to female amateur golfers who belong to a GSGA Member Club and are residents of Georgia with a maximum Handicap Index of 10.0.
Reagan Southerland Wins 94th Georgia Women’s Amateur Championship
Roswell, Ga. - Reagan Southerland of Atlanta posted a tournament-low 67 in the final round of the Georgia Women’s Amateur Championship to earn a come-from-behind victory to add her name to the Eleanor M. Keeler Memorial Trophy. The 94th edition of the Women’s State Amateur was held at Horseshoe Bend Country Club, June 30-July 2.
Southerland finished the championship at 6-under-par 210 (73-70-67). The final round started with Southerland three strokes behind the 36-hole leader, Loralie Cowart of Douglasville. She added pressure to herself with a bogey on the first hole, but rebounded with birdies on two, three and four. A double-bogey on six and bogey on seven gave Southerland a 1-over score on the day at the turn. The final nine holes were much better for the Atlanta native.
She birdied 12, 15, 16 and 17, but the highlight came on the par-5 12th hole. There she holed out from roughly 96 yards for an eagle. Her 6-under score on the back nine was enough to put the championship away and seal the three-stroke victory.
Cowart finished with runner-up honors at 3-under-par 213 (70-70-73), as did Athena Yoo of Alpharetta (71-72-70). Ava Merrill of Johns Creek came in fourth at 2-under-par 214 (70-75-69). Two players tied for fifth at 1-over-par 217, including Kallyn Black of Greensboro (75-73-69) and Sara Im of Duluth (72-72-74) - Im won the Georgia Women's Amateur Championship in 2020. Thienna Huynh of Lilburn (71-72-76) and Avery Robinson of Macon (75-70-74) shared seventh place at 3-over-par 219. Kate Owens of Suwanee finished in ninth at 4-over-par 220 (75-74-71), and Mahima Vurupatur of Alpharetta rounded out the top 10 at 5-over-par 221 (71-75-75).
Once 36 holes were played, the field was cut and 60 players at 24-over-par 168 and better competed in the final round at Horseshoe Bend Country Club.
