It was an incredible year on the course in 2025 and for seven players it culminated with a GSGA Player of the Year honor.
Trace Carter of Blackshear captured his first GSGA Junior Boys' Player of the Year behind strong performances statewide and nationally:
We caught up with Trace, who is in his freshman year at Georgia Southern University, to get his thoughts on his 2025 campaign and learn more about him on and off the course!
What did earning your GSGA Player of the Year honor mean to you?
CARTER: "Earning my first GSGA Player of the Year honor meant the world to me. I’ve put in a lot of work over the last few years and to see it pay off feels amazing. I can’t thank GSGA enough for choosing me."
What was your favorite golf memory from 2025? And why?
C: "My favorite golf memory of 2025 was definitely shooting a 59. I couldn’t have done it at a better place. It was in my hometown tournament at my home course."
What are your early goals for 2026 you hope to accomplish?
C: "Some early goals I have for 2026 are winning a college event, maintaining a under par stroke average and my team making it to the National Championship."
How many holes-in-one do you have: "I haven't made a hole-in-one."
Lowest round you’ve shot in a competition and in what event: "59 at the Okefenokee Invitational this year."
Favorite food/meal: "My favorite food is definitely the crowned filet at Bull and Barrell in Statesboro."
Favorite movie: "Talladega Nights."
Favorite golf course you’ve ever played: " Congaree Golf Club."
Course you want to play one day: "Augusta National."
Hobbies outside of golf: "I love playing basketball and ping pong."
Favorite musician/band: "Jason Aldean."
Favorite sports team: "Georgia football."
