Boasting incredible panoramic views and dramatic elevation changes, the top 15 teams that advanced to the Interclub Matches Championship were put to the test at Currahee Club. The leaderboard was crowded throughout the weekend but it was Rivermont Golf Club from Johns Creek that posted a 13-under-par overall to capture the title. The inaugural Interclub Matches Championship took place at Currahee Club in Toccoa, August 25-26.

Team Rivermont was made up of Brad Hondros, Byron Lay, Michael Chapin, Blair Scurlock, Jeff Belk, and Mitch Kim.

Round two featured 18 holes of individual stroke play with the low four scores of the six team members counting as the team score. 

For Rivermont GC the following scores counted:

Brad Hondros: 70
Blair Scurlock: 71
Jeff Belk: 73
Mitch Kim: 77

Cartersville County Club finished in second place only one-stroke behind after posting a total of 12-under-par. Finishing in third was Dalton Golf & Country Club at 9-under-par.

Entries are open to male amateur golfers who are members of the representing club entry. Players must have played in at least one regular season match to qualify to play in the championship.

Players competed over 36 holes. The first round, Saturday, August 25 – Shotgun start at 11:00 a.m. 18 holes of four-ball stroke play with all three team scores counting as the team score. The second round, Sunday, August 26 – Shotgun start at 10:00 a.m. 18 holes, individual stroke play with the low four scores of the six team members counting as the team score. 


The Georgia State Golf Association (GSGA) is the governing body of golf in Georgia and serves as an Allied Golf Association to the United States Golf Association (USGA).
