Cartersville Country Club Wins Georgia Team Championship

STATHAM, Ga. --- Despite the frigid temperatures and gusty wind on Sunday, Cartersville Country Club maintains the lead to defend its title and win the Georgia Team Championship. The 25th edition of this competition took place at The Georgia Club, October 28-29.

Cartersville Country Club, this year represented by Chad Branton, Justin Johnson, Cres Dodd and Kyle Hosick, recorded a 5-under-par 355 total score to win by three strokes. Atlanta Athletic Club (Bo Burdette, Ryan Zabroske, Cameron Hooper, William Meason) earned runner-up honors at 2-under-par 358.

This victory marks the fifth in the last seven years. In the 25 year history of the Georgia Team Championship, only Lanier Golf Club holds more titles with seven.

Athens Country Club finished third at 2-over-par 362 and St. Ives Country Club came in fourth at 4-over-par 364. Two teams tied for fifth to round out the top five at 7-over-par 367, including the Golf Club of Georgia and Ashton Hills Country Club.

The Georgia Team Championship was open to four-man teams of male amateur golfers who were selected by their GSGA Member Club. Round one was four-ball stroke play and round two was best three-of-four individual stroke play.
