SAVANNAH, Ga. --- Jack Hall of Savannah, playing at his home club, defeats Bob Royak of Alpharetta, 5 and 3, to win the 2018 Georgia Senior Match Play Championship. The seventh edition of this event took place at The Savannah Golf Club, April 10-13.
Hall earned wins over Frank Paris of Savannah (4 and 3) in the round of 16, and Scotty Scott of Hoschton (1 up) in the quarterfinals. On Friday morning he defeated Mark Nickerson of Roswell (4 and 3) in the semifinals. Hall was the low medalist after stroke play qualifying and earned the number one seed.
Brian Johnston of Peachtree Corners won the title in the Super Senior division. He defeated Al Small of Savannah (2 and 1) in the final match. Johnston advanced to the finals with wins over Thomas Hiller of Fortson (3 and 2) in the round of 16, and Frank Costanzo of Savannah (4 and 3). He outlasted Bill Blalock of Atlanta (20 holes) in the semifinals on Friday morning. Johnston earned the number three seed in the bracket after stroke play qualifying.
Entries were open to male amateur golfers. The Senior division was open to those age 55 and older as of April 10, and the Super Senior division was open to those age 65 and older as of April 10. The format is Match play preceded by 36-holes of stroke play qualifying. The low 16 players will advance to match play in both divisions.

I-75 South to I-16 East to Savannah. Turn right on Bay Street. Turn left on President Street; go 1.5 miles to the entrance on the right.
- Reigning champion Wright Waddell of Columbus will be looking to defend his title against a competitive field. Last year Waddell defeated Mark Nickerson of Roswell, 3 and 2, to claim the victory. Other former winners in the field include Jeff Belk of Marietta, Frank Remmes of Lilburn, and two-time winner Chris Hall of Marietta.
- David Nell of Sharpsburg returns to the field to defend his Super Senior title. He won the Super Senior division last year by defeating Bill Evans of Columbus (2 and 1) in the final match.
