2017 Senior Women’s Match Play Championship

 

Format and Schedule
The Georgia Women's Match Play and Senior Women's Match Play Championships take place Wednesday, May 31, through Saturday, June 3, at Reynolds Lake Oconee-Great Waters in Eatonton.


The Women will play 36 holes of stroke play qualifying followed by match play for the low 32 players. The low 16 qualifying scores will comprise the Championship flight and the remaining 16 players will be seeded into a Tournament flight based on qualifying scores.


The Senior Women will play 36 holes of stroke play qualifying followed by match play for the low 32 players. The low eight qualifying scores will comprise the Championship flight and the remaining 24 players will be seeded into three flights of eight players based on qualifying scores.

 

Eligibility
Entries were open to female amateur golfers with the lowest USGA handicap indexes and to senior female amateur golfers age 50 and older as of May 31. Host Club: Reynolds Lake Oconee - Great WatersThis will mark the first Georgia Women's Match Play Championship hosted by the club. The Great Waters course will play to 6,007 yards and par 72 for the Women and to 5,340 yards and par 72 for the Senior Women.

 

Competitor Highlights

  • Louise Yu of Duluth won the Georgia Women's Match Play Championship a year ago over Anna Buchanan of Athens, 4 and 3, at Sunset Hills Country Club in Carrollton. Both players are back this year.

 

  • Six of the eight players who made the quarterfinals at last year's event are competing this year. The defending champion, Louise Yu of Duluth, is joined by Anna Buchanan of Athens, Elisa Yang of Norcross, Harmanprit Kaur of Lawrenceville, Danielle Davis of St. Simons Island and Emma Bell of Braselton.

 

  • Laura Coble of Augusta, a Georgia Golf Hall of Famer, won the Senior Women's Match Play title the last time it was played in 2015. That year Deb Jackson of Johns Creek and Mary Riley of Perry advanced to the semifinals. Jackson and Riley join Coble in this year's field.
